:PROMOTION EDITOR- NEWS – DUBAI
RESPONSABILITES:
- Understand & respond to briefs
- Interpret the needs and requirements of producer / designer to meet objectives.
- Be proactive in ideas and concepts for projects.
- Be prepared to accept last minute requests and or briefs as in a Breaking News Situation.
- Prepare for editing:
- Determine deadlines for the completion of the editing/compositing process and advise where necessary.
- Communicate clearly at all stages to the Promotion manager and Post Production manager any issues that may in anyway cause delay or hinder delivery of the finished job.
- Check all editing hardware/software to ensure it is functioning and is suitable for the required outcome
- Constantly monitor Disk Space and take necessary actions to ensure enough space is always available at short notice.
- Digitize source materials
- Digitize and acquire all source materials in correct file formats and save to disk in an organized manner in accordance with the sections SOP.
- Edit picture & sound using designated platform
- Edit / Composite effective and cutting edge News & Program promotions, Special Presentations, Continuity News elements and packaging to a world class standard.
- Use the available tool sets and Plugins to create dynamic graphics, transitions and effects to enhance News footage.
- Check and constantly monitor technical and output Quality to ensure standards are being met, taking action and steps to correct where necessary.
- Use disciplined file management throughout the editing process to aid other Editors who may have to pick up on the job.
- Back up project data at regular and frequent intervals.
- Respond to last minute changes.
- Following basic procedures in notifying the relevant personnel in the event of a technical failure within the suite.
- Export & archive edit job
- Play out the finished edit in the appropriate format, thoroughly checking video and audio quality and overall finished item for errors and correct when required.
- House Keeping; delete all unwanted Clips from drives and Archive project.
- Ensure that the project is transferred to Archive before deleting from the system.
- Report and document any equipment that has failed and requires maintenance to the relevant personnel (Network Operations Centre, Engineering and Post Production Manager).
- Other Responsibilities
- Provide recommendations for improving workflows within your section.
- Take any opportunities to learn new editing/compositing through research and attending workshops
.REQUIRMENTS:
- Diploma in Media/ Mass Communication
- Minimum of 3- 4 years of experience within TV industry as a promotions editor
- Avid Media Composer and After Effects
- Photoshop
- Compositing / Multi-layered effects
- Color Correction and use of plugins
- Knowledge of broadcast standards
- Knowledge with current editing techniques/methods and equipment
- File management protocols used for specific operating systems
- File types and storage used in digital post-production
- Knowledge of the Relevant organizational occupational health and safety requirements
- Visualization and interpretation of creative concepts
- Communication skills
- Ability to work with minimum supervision using own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Good Organizational Skills
- Detail oriented with attention to type lay-out, color correction and pacing.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends required
